New Caledonia and Vanuatu: 7 nights in June 2014

This cruise on the Sea Princess will take you away to some tropical and exotic destinations in French Melanesia. It is a round trip from Brisbane, kicking off with a sea day to acquaint you with the lovely ship.

The first port of call is Noumea, a city on the main island of New Caledonia. It is a place of both native Melanesian flair and colonial french culture, language and food. The city is a wonderful place to explore, or you could venture further with an expedition to a rural area or the Tjibaou Cultural Centre. The next stop is again in New Caledonia, this time at a smaller island which is part of the Loyalty Islands group. It is a beautiful island with plenty of opportunity to swim, snorkel and dive- unless you would rather just enjoy the sun and sand!

The final port is Port Vila, a charming town which is the capital of Vanuatu. The natural harbour is usually bustling with local fishing boats, and there is a popular handicraft markets near the docks. Port Vila is a small place but there are shops, bars and restaurants there.

This cruise on the Carnival Spirit takes in some tried and true favourites in New Caledonia and Vanuatu. It leaves from and returns to Syndye, Australia's biggest and most bustling city, and provides a truly relaxing break amongst the beautiful, tropical islands of the South Pacific.

The first port of call is Port Vila, after several days at sea which will allow you to unwind and experience all that the ship has to offer.  Port Vila is a town based around a natural harbour, the capital of Vanuatu. A highlight here are the handicraft markets where you can shop and browse to your heart's content! Mystery Island is the next Vanuatu port, a beautiful and uninhabited sandy isle which is the definition of paradise.

About the Carnival Spirit

The Spirit is the first Carnival ship to be based outside of north America, being based in Sydney for 5 years. Before arriving down under, she was given such additions as the Green Thunder waterslide, an outdoor BBQ and australian powerpoints. The Spirit is eclectic in design, with different areas paying homage to different parts of the world. Onboard activities include shopping, the waterpark, lounging by and swimming in the pool, walking the decks, working out at the gym and partaking in the many organised activities. What Carnival ships are known for however is their nightlife- sit, talk, drink and dance in numerous bars with decors from around the world, or take in a show at the three-level Pharoah's Palace. The main dining room is a vision of napoleanic splendour, decorated to the hilt and with the waiters doing song-and-dance numbers some evenings. Carnival is a cruise line that is all about the fun- so enjoy!
